Local knowledge

Metal roofing in Orange Park

Orange Park sits on the west bank of the St. Johns River in Clay County, and Clay is where a great deal of Jacksonville's growth actually landed - Fleming Island, Oakleaf, Middleburg and the Wells Road corridor. It is suburban, high-volume and price-sensitive, which makes it a rib panel and value standing seam market rather than a boutique one.

Clay County is inland enough that salt is not the driving concern, so a Galvalume substrate is a defensible specification here where we would push aluminum on the beach. That difference is worth real money at subdivision scale, and it is the kind of thing we would rather tell a contractor than quietly upsell.

The county also holds a large stock of 1970s and 1980s ranch homes coming due for their second or third re-roof, plus the light-industrial pads along Blanding Boulevard. Both are straightforward metal candidates, and both are close enough to our Jacksonville yard to run on our own trucks instead of a freight booking.

Approvals

Permitting in Clay County

Clay County is outside the High Velocity Hurricane Zone - the HVHZ is Miami-Dade and Broward only - so every profile in our catalog can be permitted in Orange Park.

SL100, SL150, NS150, M100 and M150 carry HVHZ and Miami-Dade approval, which is a higher bar than Clay County requires, so those specs clear plan review with room to spare.

NS100, 5V, RIB and PBR are approved for use outside the HVHZ, which covers Clay County and every other Florida county except Miami-Dade and Broward. They are fully permittable here.

Approval numbers are published on each panel's page and the documentation travels with the order, so the submittal is complete when the crew mobilizes. See the Florida approvals library for the current documents.
