Cape Coral has more miles of navigable canal than any city on earth, well over four hundred, and most of the housing stock backs onto brackish water. That is the single fact that should drive a roofing specification here, and it is the one most often skipped: a canal-front house is a salt-exposure house even though it is not on the Gulf.
For that reason we push aluminum across most of the Cape rather than only along the outer edges. Aluminum does not rust at a cut edge or a scratched fastener hole, which is precisely where steel panels in brackish air start to fail, and a PVDF finish keeps the color from chalking under year-round sun.
The city is also enormous and uniformly platted - tens of thousands of similar single-family homes on a grid, most built in a few concentrated waves. Re-roof demand arrives in cohorts, and after Ian a great many of those went to metal at once. For a contractor working the Cape, panel and color consistency across a run of jobs is worth planning for.
Approvals
Lee County is outside the High Velocity Hurricane Zone - the HVHZ is Miami-Dade and Broward only - so every profile in our catalog can be permitted in Cape Coral.
SL100, SL150, NS150, M100 and M150 carry HVHZ and Miami-Dade approval, which is a higher bar than Lee County requires, so those specs clear plan review with room to spare.
NS100, 5V, RIB and PBR are approved for use outside the HVHZ, which covers Lee County and every other Florida county except Miami-Dade and Broward. They are fully permittable here.

FAQ
In most cases yes. The canals are brackish and connected to the Gulf, so a canal-front roof sees salt loading whether or not it has an ocean view. Aluminum with a PVDF finish removes the corrosion question entirely, which is why we recommend it across most of the Cape.
